Wheelton Boat Club formed in 1970 as a non-profit making limited company whose aim is to provide moorings and social events for its members, and to promote interest and awareness of the waterways and their environment.  Membership is open to all with an interest in waterways. Members do not have to own a boat. The Club moorings are situated on the attractive Leeds and Liverpool Canal at the top of the Johnson Hillock flight of locks about 2 miles from Chorley Lancashire.

The Club leases 1485 feet of mooring from British Waterways on behalf of Club members to provide moorings at an economic price.

Residential Moorings are not available Wheelton Boat Club.

The Club has parking facilities and a Sanitary Station is situated nearby with shower, elsan emptying point and electric pump out facilities, fresh water  and refuse emptying point. Local Public Houses provide food and liquid refreshment and there are shops in the nearby village of Wheelton.

Social activities include a monthly social meeting with a guest speaker on a variety of subjects (click here to see Calendar), day trips by rail or coach, sail-outs and barbecues.

A monthly newsletter is issued free of charge which keeps members in touch with Club and other events, and publishes interesting articles. Contributions for this are welcomed.
